Robert Hiscox is Managing Director of The Tarran Group, an independent Business and Human Resource consulting firm that helps organizations improve their operational effectiveness.

Rob is an Associate of Retailworks, a retail recruiting firm; Feldman Daxon, a Toronto based Executive Search and Career Transition firm; NVision Consulting Inc. a Toronto based Communications and Compensation firm; and partners with Selectpath Benefits and Financial.

Rob has over 25 years of senior and executive corporate level experience in Human Resources with The Blackburn Group (London Free Press and CFPL Broadcasting) where he was Corporate Manager Human Resources, Canada Trust, Sony of Canada where he was General Manager Human Resources, and Bata North America where he was Vice President Human Resources. Rob’s clients range from broadcasting, publishing, advertising, retail, financial services, wholesale, telecommunications, grocery, manufacturing, non-profit, municipalities to pharmaceutical organizations, and include Geox Canada, Skechers, City of London, McArthur Medical, London Community Foundation, St. Hilda’s Towers, Farm Credit Canada, BASF and Surge Communications. He has extensive experience in developing Human Resource strategies that are linked to business needs. He has:

  • Conducted successful executive search and recruitment assignments including CEO for London Community Foundation, CFO for a major food processor, Director of Finance for a Non- Profit, Account Managers for a medical supplies company and numerous retail recruitments for various retailers;
  • Positioned Human Resource groups as Business Partners with a focus upon customer service;
  • Provided Career Transition counselling to numerous individuals and corporate clients including Corus Entertainment, Culligan, BASF, Farm Credit Canada, the Waterloo Record, PetSmart and Telus;
  • Earned the role of confidential executive coach;
  • Undertaken practical organizational effectiveness and strategic planning reviews;
  • Developed human resource communications and corporate policy material;
  • Dealt with Labour Board representations, career transition and employment legal issues;
  • Planned and implemented training and organizational development assignments.

Rob is a graduate of York University and holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. He is a Member and former Director of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario (HRPAO), Human Resources Professionals of London and District (HRPLD), Strategic Capability Network, and a past Mentor in the Mentor/Mentee Program for HRPLD. Rob is a Member of the London Chamber of Commerce, a promoter of London through the Ambassador London Program, an active volunteer with the Thames Valley Children’s Centre of London contributing as a member of the Human Resources Committee, an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a past volunteer with Scouts Canada and the Tennis Masters Series in Toronto.
